About ten years ago, we lived on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River. We were about 20 minutes from Cincinnati. We loved visiting the Cincinnati Zoo anytime the weather was nice. Emma is obsessed with animals of all kinds, but even my boys had fun. The zoo is very nice with a great variety of animals.
We were sorely disappointed when we moved to Dallas. Their zoo is not as nice. In fact, we only visited once the entire five years we lived there. We just weren’t impressed at all.
So, one of the things that has been on my to-see list since we moved back to the area has been the zoo. However, two years after moving back, we finally made time to visit last week. Man! What have I been waiting for?
I forgot that the zoo is also a botanical garden. They have the most beautiful flowers planted in and around the zoo which are just beautiful. The huge Hibiscus and the bright Gerber Daisies and the sunflowers were so stunning.
Emma asked if she could be in charge of my good camera. She’s working on a photography project for school, and I thought the zoo would be a great place to practice her picture-taking skills. More than anything, I loved watching her take pictures of everything. It’s always fun watching my kids become interested in some of the things that I am interested in.
I love that there is such a great variety of animals at the Cincinnati Zoo. And, early in the day, they were mostly out and about in their exhibits. As the day heated up, many of them got sleepy. But, we had a great time! As I mentioned, Emma had my camera so I was stuck with my iPhone camera. I promised her I would not go through her pictures on the memory card until she did so all I have to share is just a couple of shots from my phone.
Mostly, I just had a great time hanging with my favorite girl in the universe!
