As you know, we are preparing for a cross-country move from TX to OH. Two weeks ago, the kids and I met Matt in OH for a house-hunting trip. We are in the process of purchasing the house below. When we took a second walk through our new house in OH before putting an offer on it, I took pictures of all the rooms so I could think about how/where our furniture will fit. Here’s my initial photo tour and some plans I have at the moment…
This, of course, is the front yard. There is a front-entry garage on the left side of the house. The landscaping is nice and clean. I’m sure we’ll trim up those bushes and add some new flowers, but other than that everything looks good here.
This is the study which is immediately to the right as we walk in the front door. My plan is to put french doors on this study, and make it our new school/sewing room. I’m not sure what color I will paint this room, but I do know that I will put some curtains inside the french doors so you can’t see our school/craft mess. 🙂 I have three tables (one for Emma to do school, one for my “desk”, and a third for our sewing table) to fit into this room if possible. I also have some school book cases and a cabinet for fabric storage. This room is a bit smaller than our current room since there is no closet for storage. But, this could be a good thing – forcing me to purge all the “stuff” I’ve been storing for “some day”.
This is the dining room immediately to the left when we walk in the front door. I love the chair rail and the light fixture in this room. We will put our kitchen tableland matching buffet in here since it’s too big for the breakfast nook. I think I will paint it a warm chocolate brown on the bottom, but I’m not sure what color to do on top. I’ll wait until we get all the furniture in and see what strikes my fancy.
I love the kitchen! I love the appliances. Matt can’t stop talking about the fridge! The island won’t stay – the buyers are taking it with them. Matt and I found one we like at Ikea that we will replace it with. I will likely paint the kitchen a neutral tan color similar to what I used in our current house throughout the entire downstairs.
Here’s the breakfast nook. You can see that it opens into the Living Room (on the right). Since our current kitchen table won’t fit in this space, we will buy a new smaller 4-top table to put here. I know there are five of us, but we typically eat in shifts during the week between dance/jiu jitsu/jobs/etc. When we are all home, we’ll just eat in the dining room. I’m hoping the Roman shades stay so that will be one less window treatment I have to make upon moving in. 🙂
