My calendar just keeps filling up! There is no sign of life slowing down between now and Christmas. I didn’t take any pics of school stuff this week, but I did take a lot of pictures of my kiddos. This was a big week with extra-curricular activities.
Monday was the start of Observation Week at Emma’s ballet school. I haven’t been able to watch her dance since the semester started. The studio is set up so that parents are not allowed to watch classes or rehearsals. So, I was very excited to go watch my sweet girl do what she loves!
Tuesday afternoon, Emma had to go visit Daddy at work and deliver a bunch of cheesecakes and pies that people ordered from her dance studio’s fundraiser. She loves visiting him at work! And, I got to spend the evening watching her ballet class again!
Wednesday is our no-dance day. I had to make a quick stop at Walmart after picking Isaac up from school. While there, I bought some new yarn, per Emma’s request. She’s been begging me to make her a blanket. Here’s a peek at what she picked out. She loves the black/white yarn. It goes well with the zebra theme in her room. And, she chose the neon colors for me to use as a border around the outside.
Thursday was another night of ballet classes. The environment is so different than our old studio. In TX, the studio was open with seating for parents to watch classes. Here, the windows are blacked out. I can’t see a thing. At first this bothered me a little bit, but I have grown to love it. I’m loving the more professional environment. Throughout this week, I’ve been able to watch Emma’s classes, but they have kicked the parents out when it’s time for rehearsal. I actually find this quite exciting. When Emma performs in the Nutcracker next month, the entire show will be a surprise. The suspense is killing me, but I know it will be worth it when she steps out on stage.
Friday, I got to watch her tap class – again, for the first time this year. This class is actually a small group that will compete at a couple of competitions this season. I’m very excited about that. I am so highly impressed with the quality of dance education Emma is receiving at her new studio. It is a pre-professional studio which is a whole new world of discipline and structure. She comes out smiling every day! She also has an acro class on Fridays where she’s working on round-offs and walk-overs right now. She’s hoping to learn to do aerials and hand-springs by the end of the season.
This weekend, Isaac is headed to his debate team’s fall convention. It’s being held at a hotel just down the street. However, it is closed to spectators. So, I have to wait until he comes home on Sunday afternoon to hear all about it. I hope it goes well for him. He has been practicing and researching for weeks. Emma has another four-hour Nutcracker rehearsal on Saturday. This leaves the hubby and I home with some free time. We will be working to unpack the storage space in the basement. Sounds fun, huh?
Next week, Emma and I are doing school Monday and Tuesday before we break for the holidays. We are not taking off early, because we will need to take off a few extra days in December when I head to my sister’s graduation in TX. Are you doing any school next week? Or, are you taking the whole week off for the holidays?
