Man am I worn out! Yesterday wrapped up 18 days straight that Emma had dance classes or ballet rehearsals. She’s whipped, too, of course. Thank goodness for Friday night off! We are watching movies in our pj’s before we gear up for another 15-day run of dance/rehearsal.
This week, I finally got all of my Christmas decor put away. We took the trees down last week, and put them back in the storage room. But, I still had to wrap and box up the rest of the decorations – snow globes, nativities, ornaments, etc. I was so proud of myself when I took that last box downstairs Monday night. Until I was standing in the dining room and discovered this on my piano! I’m thinking it will make a wonderful Valentine’s tree! What do you think?
Saturday, Emma had three hours to kill between her Saturday morning classes and her ballet rehearsal. It takes about half an hour to get to/from the studio so I decided not to come home. Instead, I surprised her with a fun little outing with one of her friends.
This friend lives an hour from us. They were besties when we lived in KY about 7 years ago. Since we returned to the area, we try to get together with S and her mom a couple of times a year. Not only did we grab lunch and take the girls ice skating, we brought S home for a sleepover. They spent the evening making markers and coloring while watching movies.
Monday was a school holiday for Isaac so Emma and I took the day off. While I enjoy taking days off with my kiddos, I have a hard time remembering what day it is for the rest of the week. Please tell me I’m not the only one.
The rest of our school week went smoothly. Emma wrapped up a fun science project. She made a poster showing the stages of mitosis. We wrapped up our study of WWI, and she’ll work on a WWI collage project next week. I finally finished reading Rifles for Watie. It was a great book. I highly recommend reading it when you study the Civil War (yes, we’ve been reading it for a while.)
She only had ballet rehearsals twice this week. I’m so glad! I need a few nights off to catch up on my to-do list and to prep some dinners for the freezer. We have eaten out three times in the past week. That is something we rarely do. But, I’ve been so busy with Emma’s dance schedule that I haven’t had time to go to the grocery store.
Monday morning, I saw the $150 Aldi Meal Plan on Facebook. The meal plan is $2.97, and it comes with a printable shopping list and recipes for 11 meals. 10 of those meals are intended to be double meals. So, when I’m done cooking, I should have a freezer full of meals that I can thaw each morning. Then, I can throw them in the crockpot or leave instructions for Isaac to pop them in the oven while I’m gone.
Starting 2/1 through Valentine’s Day weekend, Emma has 3-hour rehearsals most evenings that will conflict with dinner. So, we will rely heavily on the meals I’m prepping this weekend. I will just pack leftovers for her to heat up at the studio for dinner. It’s not my favorite way to do dinner with her, but it beats running through yet another drive in. It’ll save us money, and it’ll be much healthier.
How was your week? Did you do anything exciting?
